America's best-known hard boiled detective, Mike Hammer, returns with Hermes Press' complete archival reprint of the entire continuity, From the Files of... Mike Hammer! Reprinting all of the dailies and Sunday strips, this book will be the final word on this pop culture icon. The strip ran for only one year, 1953-1954, but what a year it was! The strip is pure Mickey Spillane and was crafted under his watchful eye with art by Ed Robbins. The feature has everything fans of Mike Hammer would expect: Mike, Velda, good girls, bad girls, gun-play and lots of action! I am not a comics grader, but I try to be as thorough as possible when assessing books for any flaws. I don't believe in using a number grade system - to me they are mostly utilized as a method to be ambiguous about exact condition and/or individual imperfections - but I do attempt to describe anything other than minor cover shelf-scuffing/scratching in detail. If a certain flaw discussed below does not mention that it affects inside pages, then it does not. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This copy is in surprisingly good to very overall condition, with great inside pages (photo#12 example). Its main flaws consist of/relate to its status as an ex-library book: it has library stickers on its lower spine corner, back cover, and on the inside first and last cover pages. The library that possessed the book attached a plastic film cover over its jacket, fastened via tape to its inside covers. The majority of signs of wear are confined to the covers, and are all lesser in severity. **Photo#4: -Upper spine corner: Light scuffing. **Photo#5: -Lower spine corner: Minimal wear. **Photo#6: -Front cover top edge: Very light scuffing/flaring towards the outer corner.-Outer corner: Tiny scuff. **Photo#7:-Front cover bottom edge: A few tiny indents spread along it, some very light flaring near the outer corner.-Outer corner: Tiny ding/scuff. **Photo#8: -Back cover top edge: Tiny ding/jacket indent near its middle, very light scuffing/flaring towards the outer corner.-Outer corner: Small depressions/indents around corner, tiny scuff at extreme corner. **Photo#9:-Back cover bottom edge: 2 tiny dings around its middle, very light curling near the spine corner.-Outer corner: Tiny scuff. **Additionally: Both jacket covers have columns of light streaks/wrinkles in the plastic film - front has 1 near the spine edge and 1 near the page edge (photo#10 w/illumination), back has 1 near its middle (photo#11 w/illumination) and a half-sized one near its top edge. Both jacket covers have some light shelf-scuffing around them. Back jacket cover has some lighter indents/scratches around its lower half mainly, two of them are ~2.5". Most pages' bottom outer corners have small/very light indents/depressions around them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I both buy to read as well as sell TPBs on here, so I understand how aggravating it is to receive a comic damaged in transit. I always pack books firmly between pieces of cardboard (among other materials/layers) via Gemini Comic mailers or bubble mailers depending on size; usually utilizing boxes for larger lots.
