Description: From the Absurd to Revolt Dynamics in Albert Camus`s Thought by Piotr Mroz, Maciej Kaluza This book presents a selection of texts devoted to two key issues in the thought of Albert Camus: absurdity and rebellion. The contributors are particularly interested in the problem of transition in the thought of the author of The Rebel from philosophical considerations over the absurd in the human condition to the attitude of rebellion. The monograph consists of three parts. The first analyzes the sources of Camuss concept of rebellion, the problems of the absurd, and, more generally, the early thought of the author of The Outsider. Part two presents considerations on Camuss rebellion from the perspective of contemporary humanities. And part three focuses on comparative studies and takes up the associations between Camuss thought with, inter alia, Dostoyevsky, Kolakowski, and Iwaszkiewicz. Review In the vision of the world and man according to Albert Camus, we do not find any easy solutions, and each transgression remains burdened with suffering. It might seem that nothing can bear the absurd of the world, and yet man is able to search for meaning and freedom. The authors of the papers in this collection explore this paradoxical image of reality in various contexts and using different methods, and yet the book constitutes a whole. An interesting inspiration for further studies. -- Izabela Trzcinska, AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow Review Quote In the vision of the world and man according to Albert Camus, we do not find any easy solutions, and each transgression remains burdened with suffering.
