FRENCH SOPRANO AMELIA TALEXIS (1875-1911) CDR

Description: AMELIA (AMELIE) TALEXIS (TOULOUSE, 1875 – CALAIS, 1911) She began her studies at the Conservatoire of Toulouse and continued her training with Rondile and Lhérie in Paris. She made her debut in 1899 at the Opéra de Bordeaux as Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust. During the 1900-01 season, she performed at the opera house in New Orleans.She also appeared at various opera houses, including those in Nice, Nantes, and Antwerp. Notably, she performed at the Teatro Liceo in Barcelona in Aida and in Italian theaters. In 1906, she made her debut at La Scala in Milan, portraying Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. It is likely that she also performed in Buenos Aires, Havana, and Mexico City. Tragically, she died in an accident in a hotel toilet in Calais while preparing for a crossing to England.
