Description: French M1866 Chassepot Bayonet. This Yataghan sword bayonet was designed for the 11mm. 1866 Chassepot needle fire rifle. The blade is 22 7/5" long with a 5" brass handle. This bayonet has not been stored well as it is covered with surface rust and around the tip pitting is very evident. Handle is in great shape with a perfect release button and the blade is straight as an arrow. The writing on the spine tells you government contractors made this along with the date of 7/1873. eba
