Description: This is an original antique Chromolithograph print - dating from around 1900-1920- This is not a modern re print or copy.It is a Chromolithograph print of a painting originally by Hans Zatzka; an Austrian who was born in Vienna in 1859-1945Hans Zatzka was a well-known and regarded Austrian fantasy artist whose most popular and valuable works depicted figures of young maidens with angels, floral and other cheerful and warm scenes, including Orientalist themes. In the late 19th and early 20th century, many of Zazka''s charming works were photographed for commercial and collectible postcards. Most of Zatzka''s paintings are in private collections. At the young age of eighteen, Zatzka joined Austria''s Academy of Fine Arts under the leadership of Professor Blaas. For his fine early works, in 1880, he received The Golden Fügermedal award. Zatzka, like many other artists of the era, travelled around Europe working and selling his art and in one of his many trips to Italy, he developed a special interest in Religious themes, decorating churches with frescoes as well as painting several religious scenes of Madonna''s and Child, Saints, Angels and others. In 1885, Zatzka was commissioned to paint The Naiad of Baden a ceiling fresco at Kurhaus Baden. Most of Zatzka''s income came from his work in religious art and special church commissions. The painter signs his works Bernard Zatzka, Joseph Bernard or J. Bernard is almost certainly the artist Hans Zatzka. This outstanding lithograph shows two beautiful maidens in a garden in conversation with a cherub or putti - enchanting and most extraordinarily executed, the skill of the painter -so clearly visible. It is signed lower left. The quality and colours of the lithograph are excellent there is no fading or damage - it lies flat. It is under glass and framed in a superb quality Napoleon III style ebonised wood and gilt sculpted frame with deep rebate around the gilded wood mount. The frame dates from most likely the 1920's -30's , whilst the lithograph is possibly slightly earlier. It has been professionally framed by a Company in Marseille (mark/stamp on verso) This shop is no longer there and closed in the 1940's.Condition - Excellent - Frame and lithograph Size Frame - Length 24"/ 61cms width 21"/53cmsActual Print - 18" x 15.25" - 46.5cms x 38.5cmsShould you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to ask - We are always happy to combine items for shipping and ship worldwide. We ship from FranceWe will require a contact telephone number for this item. The above copy is the property of Retrocollects Interiors France as is the listed item - and any copying of photos, or text will be seen as an infringement of copyright law.
