Description: This is a very special and rare print, but it does have some damage - please read the complete description and look at the photos. The print is titled Atelier Studio Luminaire, par Maurice Matet. It shows 5 different art deco lights - 2 wall mounts, a table light and a light emerging from a small table. The print is from a set of 5 folio volumes called Repertoire du Gout Moderne, published by Editions Albert Levy Librarie de Central Beaux-Arts, 2 Rue de L'Echelle, Paris. 1928-29. This print is Plate 13 from Volume 2, 1928. The prints included interior designs for everything to furniture to rugs to lighting. The prints were created by Jean Saude; they were made in the porchoir process, which was very labor intensive and included the use of stencils. Maurice Matet (1903-1989), a prominent designer also known for his rugs and fabric as well as lighting and furniture. The print measures 8 1/2 by 11 1/2, and with the frame 13 1/4 by 16 1/2 inches. There are some problems - at the top left, there's a 1 inch diagonal deep crease that has gone through the paper in places, and also a small dent at the bottom of the cartouche surrounding this light. At the upper right to the left of "Pl. 13" is a spot of paper loss that looks like insect damage, and there's a dent to the right of the shade at the left on the table mounted lights - see close-up photos. There's also a sprinkling of tiny gray dots at the far right and left at the top - I've seen other copies of this print with similar spots, so it may just be a result of the printing process. The silver colored frame does have some places where the wood shows through at the bottom, and the silver mat - much brighter and glossier than my photos show,- does have some spots of wear, but they both compliment the print. The black paper in the back has some holes, and there is no glass covering the print.
