Description: Here is a strikingly beautiful and uniquely shaped vase of modern design crafted by Frankoma Pottery. The Free Form Vase is a work of ceramic art was produced by combining the native clay of Oklahoma with blended color glazes. It may be considered Plainsman Desert Gold, and was included in the Westwind Desert Gold Collection of 1962 The “Desert Gold” glaze is gorgeous on this vase which the co-founder, Grace Lee Frank, considered an ideal container to serve as a “stage” for flower arranging. Her essay on such was included in the Frankoma 1950 Catalog – the year this vase design was introduced. Production of this Free Form Vase mold 6 continued until 1976. The condition is very good with glossy glazes free of scratches but with one typical bubble pop void. There is a small chip on the underside (see last photo) not visible from top side. There are no cracks or crazing and the inside is clean. It stands 7” at the tallest point of its asymmetrical shape and about 5 ½” wide. The reservoir is deep and wide. It weighs 1 lb. 14 oz. The backstamp on the unglazed red clay bottom reads “Frankoma 6”. Thanks for looking.
