This historical comic strip featured a WWII combat mission of Lt. Jack Conger, of the Marines. Frank Tinsley was an illustrator, comic strip artist and a writer of science fiction. Tinsley's artwork featured precise renditions in pop comic-strip colors. During the 1930s, he illustrated for the pulp aviation series, with titles such as Sky Birds, War Birds, and Bill Barnes - Air Adventurer. In the early 1940's he drew the Yankee Doodle newspaper comic, which was retitled Captain Yank. In the 1950s, he wrote and illustrated articles on futuristic scenarios for publications such as Mechanix Illustrated and the science fiction magazine Amazing Stories.
