Description: A poster for the February 1992 Aspen Art Museum exhibition of the works of the highly regarded American contemporary artist, FRANK STELLA (1936-2024), measuring 34" by 23". The image is of a 1990 painted aluminum sculpture that was included in the exhibition. Stella hand signed the poster with blue felt tip marker at lower right. The artist needs little introduction, to those who follow contemporary American art. He is considered one of the most important living American artists, and original works can sell into the millions of dollars. Stella was born in Massachusetts and educated at Princeton. In the mid 1950's he visited New York and was exposed to all that was happening in the city after the war. By the 1960's he was a highly recognized artist, his minimalist and abstract paintings, graphic work and sculpture much sought after by collectors and institutions. Stella, now in his 80's, continues to create art. The poster has been laid down on foamboard at some point in time. There is some edge bumping and dog-earing of corners, and light soiling and other minor flaws, but essentially this is very presentable and ready for display once framed. In 2015 a Stella painting hammered for $12 million at auction. This "Stella" is a considerably more affordable way to demonstrate to your friends your good taste.
