Description: Lovely framed figure study focusing on hand gestures and a female figure by listed artist Eugene F Savage (1883-1978), known for his WPA murals, paintings and sculptures. Savage studied at the Chicago Art Institute, The American Academy in Rome, and got his MFA at Yale, where he went on to teach for 28 years. According to wikipedia, Savage's training in Early Renaissance techniques strongly influence his style. He was also strongly influenced by Thomas Hart Benton. Other contemporary influences on his public art were his Latin American contemporaries Diego Rivera and Orozco. Murals by Savage are at Purdue, Columbia, Yale University as well as in government buildings in Connecticut, the Elks National Veterans Memorial in Chicago, the new Post Office Building in Washington, in Indiana and the renovated Court of Appeals Hall in Albany, New York. He also did the Great Hall murals at the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition and the Bailey Fountain in Brooklyn, NY. Frame is 17" x 21" and the sight is 7" x 11"
