Description: A historic, one-of-a-kind baseball collectible features Eddie Collins, one of the game’s earliest greats who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939, the second class of inductees. Collins was a star second baseman for the Philadelphia Athletics (now the Oakland A’s) and Chicago White Sox in the early 1900’s, going on to serve as a player-manager, manager and front office executive with several clubs. Offered here is a well-preserved Collins contract signed with the Boston Red Sox’ Sacramento farm team in 1940, along with a 1912 Brown Background baseball card. Collins passed away in 1951, and his signature is exceedingly rare. The signature is big and bold, in blank ink, and the contract is in excellent condition after more than eighty years. The card is somewhat worn, but an excellent example of early tobacco baseball cards. A truly special historical artifact. 19” H X 13” W.
