Description: British Parliament 1925 Vintage Lithograph Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Fountain Hotel and Geyser, Yellowstone -- 1901 Historical PrintA vintage b/w half-tone lithograph depicting a world scene that may no longer existBuilt in 1891 by the Yellowstone Park Association, The Fountain Hotel was the sister structure to Lake Hotel. Both sought to bring elegance to the Yellowstone National Park experience, which was greatly in the interest of the Northern Pacific Railroad, in order to entice visitors westward. And before the building of Old Faithful Inn, Fountain had the finest upscale resort experience on that side of the Park. Among its famous lodgers include President Theodore Roosevelt, hunter/conservationist Robert Bird Grinnell and naturalists John Burroughs and Ernest Thomas Seton. Fountain Geyser is a geyser in the Lower Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park in the United States. Fountain is the dominant member of a group of geysers at the Fountain Paint Pots thermal area. Prior to this, virtually all prints (and engravings) were produced as illustrations to be included in a manuscript, book, newspaper, or pamphlet. Therefore, a vast majority of original prints have been over the years removed from these original sources. Prints are produced using many different techniques: relief printing (woodcut & wood engraving), intaglio printing (steel & copper plate engraving, drypoint, aquatint, etc), and planographic printing (lithography, serigraphy, inkjet, laser, etc.). While the commercial value of a print depends on such factors as age, rarity, and condition, the real value of a print is its tie to its history and/or its esthetic beauty. Item #721-JS314
