Description: Shipping With Signature Insurance by USPS Priority Mail, or UPS or FedEx, whichever is cheaper and faster. Own a piece of "American Glass History". Up for auction is 1 ABSOLUTELY STUNNING VINTAGE FOSTORIA FOOTED 10" MEADOW ROSE PATTERN # 328 JUG, Fostoria's terminology for a water pitcher. It is their catalogue pitcher # 5000 with a hand applied stuck handle. Fostoria made this piece from 1938 to 1957, making it between 66 and 85 years old. This glass crystal footed pitcher comes from a bye-gone era when American manufacturing was an "art", as can be seen from the gorgeously acid-etched "Master Designed" Fostoria Acid Etching as can be seen in the photographs. It is absolutely gorgeous and in absolutely perfect condition, as if it were purchased yesterday from Fostoria. It probably took over 10 people to create this glass, from mixing and heating up the sand ingredients to the proper temperature, to hand blowing the pitcher into the mold, then adding the foot and handle and spout, and then adding a resist wax doily before dunking into the hot acid etch, and then rinsing off the wax coating with hot water, and finally polishing. I only wish I had more because it is so beautiful. It actually measures 10 inches high, is 5 inches at its widest width at the top, and stands on a crystal round base that is about 4 5/8 inches in diameter. It was purchased from an old estate sale on Long Island. Although it was pre-owned, it does not have a single scratch anywhere, as can be seen in the photographs. I found it sitting inside a closed dining room cabinet where it seemed to have sat there for many years and was never used, and this is probably the reason why there are no scratches on the pitcher, and absolutely none on the bottom where they would be expected to be found. I asked the people running the estate sale how this pitcher could be so "perfect"., even the spout is perfect with no damage at all. They told me that their parents received this as a wedding present from their very best friends, and so they never wanted to use it, and so they kept it inside that closed dining room cabinet. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always try to describe the items as best as I can. I don't see any chips, fleabites, cracks, scratches, stains, cloudiness, or repairs anywhere on the pitcher. It comes from a smoke-free home. I only accept PayPal, and never charge extra for packaging and handling. Shipping and Insurance by USPS Rate Priority Mail, or UPS or FedEx, whichever is cheaper and faster costs $18.85. Payment is expected within 3 days, after which I will immediately ship out the pitcher as soon as payment is verified by eBay. Buyer may be subject to sales tax which is collected by eBay, and not given to me at all. If payment is not received within 5 days, the pitcher will be relisted. Returns will be arranged only if I have shipped the wrong item, or if I have misrepresented the item or its condition. If you need more pictures or further details, please feel free to contact me. You must be happy with you purchase. Please ask all questions, and contact me with any issues before bidding, because your bid is a contract. Please know that we can work together.
