Description: Fort Polk LA "Yearbook" for Infantry training for Company D Second Battalion for the period 13 Mar 1967-05 May 1967First Training Brigade United States Army Training Center INFANTRY Ft. Polk, now Ft. Johnson (perfect) was commanded in 1967 by General Ellis W. Williamson (Battle of the Bulge, WWII; Inchon landing, Korea; 173 Airborne in Vietnam) approximately 235 soldiers in this class. They missed the joy of Fort Polk in the summer, but probably got summer in Vietnam instead. Book measures approx. 12 1/4" x 9 1/4" Very clean copy. NO interior marks. Bumping to corners I understand the changing of the Confederate names but they could have saved a lot of money by just using a different Polk. Fort (James Knox) Polk, the 11th president, would do nicely. Fort Lee could be for Peggy, Brenda, Ruta, Bruce or Spike. Fort Bragg would be easiest-just have the Privates not paint the rocks or pick up the pine cones for about a month--and just paint over the second g in Bragg--Ft. Brag. Every publication would just need a clerk with a magic marker to blot out that second g. We could have saved millions. I was at Bragg (oops Liberty) for over two years and I had no idea it was named for Johnny Reb. Will Rambo have to do a voiceover?
