They used it from 2000-2018 in both the Zetec and Duratec cars. There is one weakness in the internal shift linkage and when it fails you are usually sweating bullets that you just Destroyed your whole trans with that power-shift you were trying to perfect. Haha. Luckily there is a shear pin that lets go and when your shifter is flopping all around and you can’t find any gears at all – it is likely just the shear pin stopping the shift forks from selecting a gear and not a complete and total catastrophic failure. It’s an easy fix (Lucky You) It starts with confirming that the moving the shifter around inside the car actually moves the shift tower through a range of motions but with no internal engagements. You will need to remove the shift tower from the transmission. Pop off the two shift cables, unplug the reverse light sensor wire and zip out the (7) perimeter bolts. It lifts straight out! You should immediately be able to see if the shear pin crapped the bed. It connects the vertical shaft to the fork selectors and when it breaks the shaft just rotates without bringing any of the shift forks along for the ride. Think twice about replacing it with a nut and bolt BECAUSE if that snaps then a piece of the bolt falls into your gears and now it is GAME OVER for the trans and maybe the car depending if you can lock up the trans at speed or just wreck all the internals and safely stop. While it seems a little flimsy it actually is a GOOD design, the multiple layers of the rolled metal has a shock absorbing quality and actually takes quite a bit of abuse before you actually shear it off. Knowing that apparently you messed up a few shifts along the way I might recommend you buy two of these. I mean youhven’t perfected that Power-Shift yet, right?
