It is painted with a scene of people working in the fields, with hillsides and beautiful trees. The artwork is also painted on the lid. It has a lacquered finish. It does have some weight to it, but not sure what type of wood it is made from.Also not sure on where it was made… possibly Haiti? It is in good condition. No dings, cracks or paint wear. It does have some some wear from use. It also has a semi flat side, it is hand done and not perfectly rounded.
