Description:
First Empire Napoleon 1, gold 40 francs, 1812, 12.9 grams, 21 mm.
Issued before Napoleon’s abdication to Elbe, this coin was reputed to be hung around the neck of Josephine.
The coin is circulated and is in fair condition, hence the great value selling price, being delivered from Edinburgh.
Sourced from an 85 year old private collection.
A very special coin marking a very special period in history still at a very special price. If mounted (without damaging the coin, banded by a good jeweller) this coin would make a stunning centre piece, and would certainly be a conversation piece.
Stamped France around the edge of the coin, which creates an unevenness, which was done back in the day to prevent clipping.Price: 2850 GBP
