We love the fact that a fine photo portrait of Samuel L. Clemens, aka Mark Twain - is here included among prominent members of the historical society as the young Clemens was in Nevada from 1861 to 1864 where he first became a journalist in Virginia City then writer after his failed attempts at mining. The material for "Roughing It". one of his earlier best sellers draws heavily upon his adventures in this Nevada period. There is also some great info on native Americans in the state and a handsome image of some stunning baskets (note: small surface mark above one basket).
