Description: Presented is an incredible, English silver and glass double inkwell made by Harman & Company in 1923. This inkwell is very heavy and solid.. This piece is Britannia standard .958 purity silver, which is even higher purity than sterling, which is .925. This heavy piece is in a simple design and is raised on four egg shaped feet. The two inkwells have threaded rims and each one has its original glass liner. Although this piece was made in 1923 the form and design are apparently that of an inkwell from the first quarter of the 1700s. The base and two inkwells are marked with the lion’s head erased and Britannia mark for London and .958 purity silver (which is higher than .925 sterling purity), a date letter h for the year 1923 and a maker’s mark for Harman & Company. This piece is in fabulous overall condition. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs. This piece has a high polished finish, just as the day it was made. The piece measures 6 3/4 by 11 1/8 inches, is 3 1/2 inches tall and the sterling pieces alone without the glass liners weigh 1315 grams or 46.4 ounces. Tremendous weight.
