Description: A superb John Ridgway plate circa 1845-50, pattern No. 6/2767 , lavishly decorated with a finely painted central still life study of an amphora vase overflowing with summer garden flowers with fruit and berries beside it , set on a marble ledge and framed by a solid gilt border. The central panel is surrounded by rich cobalt blue ground borders reserved with gilt edged salmon pink ground foliate scrolls and trellis cartouches beneath gilt scroll rims. A dish from this service is illustrated by Geoffrey A. Godden, Ridgway Porcelains, p. 226, pl. 197, where the author comments that this pattern could possibly have been produced for the 1851 Great Exhibition in London. The plate is in Excellent condition , there being no chips, cracks or repairs with some very minimal rubbing to the gilding. Dimensions: 23.5 cm / 9.35 inches Track Page Views WithAuctiva's Counter
