Description: Beautiful and rare Elkington & Co. English silver plated mug inspired by a Georgian silver original, and made in 1884. Featuring a bulbous form, double C scroll handle with acanthus thumb piece, and gilded interior, the mug is embellished with an intricate interlocking hand engraved Victorian monogram, which we cannot decypher, and stands about 5 1/4" from the footed base to the tip of the handle. In very nice as found estate condition, there are a few small indentations, but the silver plate is in remarkable condition.Marked on the bottom "Elkington & Co." with the date letter "Y" for 1884, the mug is a handsome addition to an antique silver collection, and is offered with out reserve.
