Description: This is a FINE Early 19thC AMERICAN Burl Maple veneer over a FOLK ART DOCUMENT BOX with a Fitted Dovetail interior. It’s an Unusual FOLK ART piece, that is a hand made heavy duty chest or BOX with hand cut dovetail construction. THE BOX ITSELF IS ALL ORIGINAL. IT STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL HINGES but MISSING THE key. The finish shows super patina. There is some minor edge and rim wear as shown in the photos and are added for complete condition disclosure (see photos). It could use a wax which would hide the scratches. The size is wonderful, it measures 11” x 7.5” x near 3.75” tall. This has a removable fitted interior and a hiding area behind the mirror. Typical wear associated with the age of the item.
