Description: Presented is a wonderful English Georgian sterling silver creamer, dated 1772 and likely made by Robert Hennell I. This creamer is made in a classic bulbous bodied form, with a double scroll form handle and round pedestal foot. The edge of the foot and the top rim of the opening have an elegant gadroon design, while the handle has an engraved foliate thumbpiece, with little flourishes at the midpoint and bottom. This piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter R for 1772, and a partially rubbed maker's mark beginning with R in an oval punch, likely for Robert Hennell I. This piece is in good overall condition. There is an old lead solder repair to the interior beneath the spout. There is an old silver solder repair to interior right above the bottom. Both of these are extremely hard to discern from the exterior, and are very clean professional work. There are no splits, no leaks, no monograms, and no monogram removals. The creamer stands about 4 3/4 inches tall at the handle and measures about 4 3/8 inches from handle to spout. This piece weighs 141 grams or 5.0 regular ounces. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
