This is a recent model Fender Squier Stratocaster that's been modified to somewhat resemble "DAVID GILMOUR of PINK FLOYD" infamous "BLACK STRATOCASTER". It isn't exactly like, nor was it intended to be an exact replica of Gilmour's vintage Black Stratocaster, as his is an actual vintage Strat that has quite a bit of play wear and this one is in near mint condition.Poplar Body with a Gloss Black finish. The Fender designed Single-Coil Pickups in late model Squier Stratocasters have vastly improved over the years. If you've played different Squier Strats, you've found that the Pickups in some sound muddy without much output, and others sound clear with strong output. These are the latter that have strong output, clarity and presents in all 5 selection positions. These are the good ones that have ceramic magnets running along each side of the pole-pieces like the older Fender MIM (Made-In-Mexico) Stratocaster had. Original 3-ply Black/White/Black Pickguard was replaced with a "Single-Ply" Black Pickguard like Gilmour's. Also has White Pickup Covers, Knobs, Switch & Tremolo Tips, again, like Gilmour's. *NOTE: A Mini-Toggle-Switch was installed, like Gilmour's "Black Strat" has. It functions as an on/off switch for the Neck Pickup, so the Neck Pickup can be activated when the 5-way Switch is in position 1 or 2. When activated Position 1 =Bridge & Neck Pickups, Position 2 =All Three Pickups! This is the "Gilmour Mod", that provides 7 Pickup selections and can get his tones! When not activated, the 5-way Switch operates as normal. Has a vintage style Tremolo Bridge and the Tremolo Arm (whammy-bar) has been shortened to 4.5 inches like Gilmour's famous Black Strat. The Squier engraved logo Neck Plate was replaced with a blank Chrome Neck-Plate.Maple Neck with a 21 medium fret Maple Fretboard with a very comfortable modern C-shape profile, 25.5" scale, 9.5" radius, 1-5/8" nut-width. To further improve playability, the Fretboard has been lightly sanded with a very fine grit, buffed, conditioned with lemon-oil, then thoroughly buffed again to make the Fretboard extremely smooth, better than it came from the manufacture and plays with ease! *I do this to almost all Guitars I sell, new & used and makes for a significant improvement in playability. Frets are perfect, have been polished so they're bright & slick, and Fret-Ends rounded to for a comfortable feel...has no sharp Fret-Ends! Fretboard edges slightly rolled for a smooth, broke-in feel. Back of the Neck was also lightly sanded with a fine grit to remove a bit of the clear-coat finish, buffed, oiled, then meticulously buffed again. It's "ultra-smooth", fast and plays fantastic! And it has a Rosewood Skunk-Stripe on the back, and Truss-Rod Plug like Fender USA & MIM Neck have. Headstock has a vintage style water-slide decal applied and the entire Headstock sealed with Gloss Lacquer. Has 2-pin sealed-gear Tuners that aren't area correct, but they're great Tuners that work well.Strung up with a fresh set of quality D'Addario 10-46 Strings (the Brand most Pros use & the only Strings I use) and a complete set-up done including: truss-rod relief, action, intonation & Pickup heights. Wonderful playing and sounding Strat with the retro appearance of David Gilmour's infamous Fender "Black Stratocaster" and is an affordable alternative! Weighs 6.8 pounds. No Case.This is a great Guitar, that seriously plays and sounds a great as it looks! If you're looking for this type of Guitar, think about if other Sellers work on Guitars (most don't) and know how to set them up. Is the Neck straight, Truss-Rod functional, Fretboard clean? Are the Frets oxidized needing cleaned & polished, have dead frets or buzz that requires the frets to be leveled? Will the Strings be rusty or dead, needing a new set? And if it's a used Guitar, I'm sure you've found they usually arrive dusty, needing cleaning and require major tweaking just to be playable! Not this one! Also, will other Seller's description be as thorough as mine? Remember that you get what you pay for!This being said, I must also note: The Neck is perfectly straight, and it plays great, but I can't predict how you like your Guitar set up, so be advised that adjustments or a set-up to your preference "may" be required, and if you can't do it yourself, the costs associated with these adjustments should be expected. Also note that Guitars are made of Wood, and when in transit to you, temperature changes and/or Delivery Service Handling can affect my initial set-up, that again may require adjustments on your end.
