Description: At Truetone Music, we love Fender Custom Shop Basses. We also know that bass players recognize that this is where some of the world's greatest basses are made. For this reason, we decided to create a run of basses, all of which use 1964 as the base model year, all with matching headstocks, in a variety of classic colors. For this one, we went with one of our favorite colors - Olympic White. It's one of the more classic colors that Fender offered back in the day, and gives this bass a great vintage vibe, especially with the added touch of a matching headstock. For the finish package, we went with Closet Classic, with heavy checking to give it a bit more character. As the name suggests, this creates the appearance of an instrument that was made 50 - 60 years, but was then put away in it's case. You'll see finish checking, some of the glossiness muted, and hardware without the shine. Be sure to check out all of the photos, especially the angled shots, to see how the checking looks - those show it the best. The finish work is quite stunning, and the heavy checking only shows up in the photos at certain angles (in person, it's seen immediately from any angle, even straight on). To further the uniqueness, we had the finish removed from the back of the neck. This gives you a truly broken in feel, making this bass an absolute pleasure to play. This is one of our favorite things about Custom Shop instruments and how we spec them out - not a crazy amount of wear (in this case, really none), but with the back of the neck broken in so it feels like a vintage instrument. Two Custom Shop Vintage Jazz single-coil pickups provide a variety of tones from classic Jazz Bass growl, to funky slap, to more aggressive modern sounds. The rock solid quartersawn maple neck is topped off with a nice dark rosewood board and clay dots. We added two modern tweaks to make it a little more playable - a 9.5" radius and Narrow Tall (6105) frets. The bass comes without the bridge and pickup covers installed - we did that specifically to preserve the finish (not having holds in it). Of course, this is a vintage-styled instrument, so we requested the Custom Shop to include the covers in the case. If you want them installed, that's no problem (if you'd like us to do so, at no charge, just let us know). It includes a vintage style Deluxe hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity. This is an amazing looking, sounding and feeling Custom Shop '64 Jazz. Come to Truetone Music to check it out, or order it right here right now to get it sent straight to your home.
