Fend Normatic fish scale guilloche gold filled fountain pen fine nib

Description: NOTE: This is an unrestored and untested fountain pen. Please read the entire description for condition notes. You are buying this AS-IS. This is a Fend Normatic rolled gold (walzgold) button fill fountain pen c. 1930s. This very small 3 13/16 inch long pen is a ten sided rolled gold overlay with a repeating fish scale or wave guilloche on each of the facets. The cap top is black, showing the ring of the metal overlay around the ebonite base pen. The black blind cap removes to show the press button that activates the pressure bar inside the barrel, compressing the ink sac and filling the pen. The nib is stamped NICHROMA EXTRA and may not be original as Fend pens often have Fend stamped nibs. Fend was a metalwork design company founded in Pforzheim, Germany and made overlay pens for Montblanc in the 1920s. The pen is not in working condition and will need a new ink sac and some nib work. The nib appears aligned under a loupe but appears to have no tipping material. We dip tested it and it shows a little flex, but is very scratchy. It will need to be smoothed or replaced. The button presses and clicks, but the pen does not fill. It will need service and a new ink sac. The cap and barrel have some light scuffs. There is light plating loss in a few spots.
