Description: Listing is for a 19th century Federal wooden mirror with hand painted depiction of General Lafayette arriving back in New York harbor. I believe this was inspired by a Clews earthenware platter and brilliantly captures the military salute and the Stars and Stripes. I do not think the painting is original to the mirror. 29' x 17' w Some scuffs to the wood, but generally a nice distinguished appearance. A significant loss to the wooden veneer in lower right hand corner. It doesn’t really detract from the appearance when viewing the mirror from the front. Age appropriate desilvering to the mirror.
