To insert/remove battery place clock face down on horizontal surface protecting front of clock movement with soft cloth such as a towel or pillow.These quartz movements are very reliable keeping excellent time. A new brand name AA 1.5 V battery will typically run the movement for 18-24 months when operating in an indoor environment, 60-80 degrees F.
