Description: This TV adaptation is very faithful to the Hans Christian Andersen story it's based on, although the specifically Christian content of it has been all but eliminated. What's left isn't as satisfying or dramatically compelling as what Disney would release in a couple years, but it was still charmingly quaint in its own way. If anything, it was pretty impressive what they were able to achieve in live-action with mid-1980's technology. The end result is more subtle and a bit meandering. Still fun to watch, though, and the Sea Witch's one scene was very good.
