F97596~ c.1914 Conley VII 4x5 Compact Field Camera Outfit

Description: DESCRIPTION – **SUPERB DISPLAY** Although the model is not marked on the camera, this seems to be the Conley Model VII for 4x5 inch exposures on glass dry plates. The camera is in super clean condition – see photos – looks like it was used no more than a few times. Comes with the original field case, dry plate holder, and a box of dry plate negatives taken with the camera. Came from a Pennsylvania estate. The shutter does not fire – shutter leaves are wide open. CONLEY MODEL – For a number of years, Conley cameras were a mainstay of the Sears Roebuck Company. This model did not appear in the actual Conley catalogs I could locate. However, looking at the Sears catalog illustrations and examples identified on collector sites, the only consistent difference is the location of the Conley Name Plate. This appears to be the Conley VII sold through Sears in the 1914 catalog. Comments from knowledgeable collectors are welcome. CONDITION – Gorgeous exterior and interior. Shutter does not fire. Finder viewing is dim. Case and dry plate holder super clean. Dry plate holder very clean and working. Has some 4x5 dry plate negatives that were in the camera case – images are of family members and a few scenic images.
