A handsome reprint by the Grabhorn Press of an extremely scarce work, the original of which is number 79 of the Zamarano 80. Felix Pawel Wierzbicki (1815-1860) was a Polish doctor, soldier and writer. The original of this book was the first English-language book printed in California, and in it Wierzbicki gave a description of the culture, peoples, and climate of the area at that time, even including a survey of agriculture and hints on gold mining.
