Description: THIS IS THE RAREST OF ALL THE 67 MEDALS THAT WERE OFFERED TO THE PUBLIC BY ROBERT McNAMARA AND HERALDIC ART MEDALS BETWEEN 1959 AND 1978 FIRST WITH THE LOWEST MINTAGE BECAUSE OF HAVING TO CHANGE THE MEDAL DESIGN MID YEAR AND SECONDLY BECAUSE THIS ONE IS ONE OF ONLY A VERY FEW MINTING ERRORS WITH A 180 DEGREE ROTATED REVERSE................................................................................................................................................................................................... EXTREMELY RARE !!! 1959 HAWAII (THICK) WITH A 180 DEGREE ROTATED REVERSE. THIS MEDAL HAD THE LOWEST MINTAGE OFF ALL THE MEDALS ROBERT MADE AND OFFERED TO THE PUBLIC IN THE 60 MEDAL SERIES MADE BETWEEN 1959 AND 1978; ONLY 1,200 OF THE THICK VERSION WERE PRODUCED. OF THOSE 1,200 MEDALS I BELIEVE THAT LESS THAN A DOZEN WITH THE ROTATED REVERSE ACCIDENTALLY WERE PRODUCED AND THOSE THAT I AM AWARE OF CAME DIRECTLY FROM ROBERT'S ESTATE AFTER HIS PASSING.. OF THE 4 ROTATED REVERSES THIS IS THE 2ND RAREST, THERE IS ONE THAT COULD BE A SINGLE EXAMPLE OF A ROTATED OR MEDALLIC REVERSE AND THAT ONE ALSO CAME DIRECTLY OUT OF RO9BERT'S ESTATE..THE OTHER TWO ARE THE #15 NEW JERSEY AND THE #28 NEW ORLEANS. These medals were made by Robert McNamara of Cleveland, Ohio between 1959 and 1978 and very few ERROR MEDALS were released and those weren't released on purpose. The thing that ended the series was in 1978 when the Hunt brothers tried to corner the silver market and drove silver prices to $50 an ounce Robert had no choice but to stop producing the series of medals. Along with the medal you will receive the original serial numbered envelope that the medal was sent in as well as the descriptive literature written by Robert McNamara describing both his obverse and reverse designs. The literature itself is very rare.
