The hardwood bookends are 16 inches long, and 5 3/4 inches wide. The bookend panels are square and measure 5 3/4 inches to a side. The bookends weigh 1 1/2 pounds. As with most vintage pieces, the bookends show the wear typical with everyday use. The inside of the bookends is worn from having books placed on it over the years, but that lends to the vintage look of the bookends. The carvings on the outside panels have some small scrapes and dings, but they do not mar the patterns themselves. The hinges are solid and will last many years.
