Description: Evolution of a Shipwreck, M.S. Chikuzen Maru by George & Luana Marler, Privately Pub. (2007). This is a pre-publication draft or proof, possibly never published. Softcover (8.5x11”) 71 pgs, over 100 color and b&w ils/photos. …No ISBN There are hand-written corrections in the text (see listing pics), so this is a draft or a proof. Gorgeous pictures show changes in the sea life around one of the most popular dive wrecks in the British Virgin Islands, maybe the world, with pictures starting from shortly after the ship sank. This book also outlines how the ship came to sink where it did, and tells how Mr. Marler was involved in efforts to keep the drifting ship from damaging land in the area. Possibly, material in this book had been included in another project of the Marlers entitled The Burning Freighter. On page 70 (see next to last pic), in the part of the book describing the authors, it states: "The Burning Freighter is our fourth publication," which could suggest this book was going to be titled The Burning Freighter, or perhaps the wording from a different book project was included in this proof and didn't get fixed at this stage. Apparently the Marlers had a lot of pictures and unpublished material. For example, (see third pic, the copyright page) "This book and the compass rose are from the original works (not published), “The Virgin Islands, Seagate to Archaeological Treasures” by George and Luana Marler." Regardless, this book has over 100 excellent color photographs and interesting descriptions of the sinking of the Chikuzen and its rapid repopulation by sea life. Condition: Binding tight and pages clean. Cover edges and corners show wear, and there are numerous handwritten notations/corrections in text throughout. Please see the pictures for more information about this book and the condition of this copy. ► We are thinning contents of our smoke-free, pet-free home. Books will be listed, plus toys including CCG and trading cards, fabric/wallpaper sample books, jigsaw puzzles, jewelry, household items and maybe some of my fishing and workshop stuff.
