A short review ....There's not much doubt from the opening scenes of "Everything She Ever Wanted" that bad things are going to happen and Pat Allanson is going to be responsible for most of them. So it's a tribute to the filmmakers and Gina Gershon, who plays Allanson, that they make the details and execution interesting enough to create a decent two-night crime thriller. This Lifetime Movie production is based on a book by Ann Rule who turns real-life crimes into docudrama. So naturally she revels in greed, manipulation, deceit and the kind of general amorality by which basically rotten people ruin basically decent people. There's plenty of that in this movie, and while it offers little subtlety, it's a well-proven way to get people's attention. Pat Allanson is a Southern gal whose father abandoned the family when she was 3. This left her hardened to men in particular and the world in general, which in turn led to her two-pronged life goal: attaining great material comfort and getting back at men. As this story begins, she has just married hunky Tom Allanson (Ryan McPartlin), who is seven years younger and whose appeal as a stud considerably outstrips his ability to provide the lifestyle to which Pat intends to become accustomed. Why she didn't zero in on a rich guy isn't clear, given her priorities. Perhaps she has a secret romantic side. Tom does have a rich father, Walter (Victor Garber). Alas, they've never gotten along, and Walter became more distant when Tom left his wife and two children to marry Pat. Then Pat talks Tom into buying a mansion they can't afford. Then he loses his job. So now the pressure mounts on Pat to redirect some of that Allanson money to, oh, say, herself. Little that happens after that point will come as a surprise. The real question is which characters will grasp their situation before the zipper closes on the body bag. Interestingly, there's one character here to whom most viewers are likely to develop much attachment: Pat's sister Rachel (Rachel Blanchard). But that's okay. In this genre, all that matters is a good villain, and Gershon delivers. "Everything She Ever Wanted" is a great telemovie, but you can't go wrong with a good bad girl.
