Description: EVER FONSECA. Engrave. Screenprint / Cardboard. Contemporary Art. Cuban Art. Cuba. 1938 • Title: Untitled • Technique: Screenprint / cardboard. 30/75 • Size: 18 x 15 inches • Executed: Undated • Signed: Ever PROVENANCE Private collection, Havana, acquired from the original owner by the current owner. Ever Fonseca completed his studies at the National School of Art in Cuba, where he graduated in 1967. He is part of the so-called generation of the 70s and comes from a peasant family. His attachment to the land is reflected in a figuration filled with myths and rural traditions. The "güije," an eloquent character within his iconography, reappears in his work, laden with fish and flowers as symbols of his ancestral roots. His ochre tones, greens, and blues bring us closer to the artist's intention of maintaining his connection to nature, its flora, and fauna. He was the first artist of his generation to be invited to hold a solo exhibition at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba in 1970. Among his main distinctions are the National Painting Prize at the Cagnes-Sur-Mer Festival in France in 1970, the first prize in the Painting Competition awarded by the International Association of Plastic Artists for Latin America and the Caribbean in Paris, and the Prize of the Cuban Committee of the AIAP for the set presented at the UNEAC'84 Salon.EVER FONSECA.
