The finish including the attributes of texture, coloration, and the hand-painting of the piece is meant to have a somewhat distressed or imperfect look, so the crackled finish, any lumps & bumps, pits, uneven lines, fading, scuffs, uneven color, etc are intentional and are part of the figurines' aesthetic and charm.
