Romain de Tirtoff (23 November 1892 – 21 April 1990) was a Russian-born French artist and designer known by the pseudonym Erte, from the French pronunciation of his initials. He was a 20th century artist and designer in an array of fields, including fashion, jewelry, graphic arts, costume and set design for films, theater, opera and interior décor (from Wikipedia). The Details: For sale is a vintage 1985’s ERTE Bronze Sculpture, JUSTICE #220 of 500 produced. I am the ORIGINAL owner of this piece, having purchased it in Dyansen Galleries, San Francisco. I traveled to San Francisco frequently and always made a stop to Dyansen Galleries in the Wharf and was an active collector of Erte pieces while he was still alive. A couple of years ago I downsized from a large home to a small condo on a golf course and have been selling many of the items I acquired in over 30 years of active collecting. I am ready for other people to acquire and own my pieces! At one time I owned all the Erte bronzes in the American Series and they sat in my master bathroom hallway. In USED CONDITION, but still in EXCELLENT to MINT foundry condition. The only visible issue (only seen under certain light) is minor patina damage where the staff enters the base (see photo). Very MINOR and can really only be seen under certain light conditions (the result of the maid cleaning the sculpture and lifting and dropping the staff). I have the original Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from Dyansen Galleries (sadly, Dyansen Galleries is long since bankrupt and closed). I was a frequent purchaser from Dyansen Galleries, San Francisco which is where I acquired this piece.
