Description: ERTE LA JALOUSIE ART DECO BRONZE SCULPTURE OF A MEDUSA WITH SNAKES FOR HANDS, 1983, 15in.Tall Ltd. Ed. #146/250, Incised artist signature, stamp numbered with foundry and date on the back of the base.Romain de Tirtoff (Roman Petrovich Tyrtov, AKA: ERTE, Russian born French artist,1892-1990) was perhaps the most famous fashion, film, theater, opera, interior and costume designer of his day, who branched out to produce prints, lithographs, jewelry and sculpture-- all based on his Art Deco designs.We purchased this figure from the distributor in the early 1980s and have stored it in our darkened warehouse since. The piece is still in very nearly Pristine MINT condition with completely UN-faded patina, but with a tiny, pea-sized bit of oxidation on the gold-plated platform she rests upon. Other than this minor defect, the piece is still Pristine MINT and looks BRAND NEW.
