Description: Ernest Frederick Meyer (1863 - 1952) was born in Rothenberg, Germany in 1863. Meyer studied under American painters William Merritt Chase, John Henry Twachtman, James Carroll Beckwith, Frank Vincent DuMond, and Charles Henry Turner. Although he was known to have a primary residence in Tylerville, CT in 1929, he lived almost entire his entire life in New York City. Ernest Meyer is best known as a skilled landscape painter.He was a member of the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, and the Salmagundi Club. Ernest Meyer exhibited at the Salmagundi Club, a National Academy of Design 1895 1901, 1902, 1904, 1906, the Brooklyn Art Association 1935, and a Boston Art Club 1901. He became a close friend of William Merritt Chase, while studding at his studio in New York and Shinnecock where he learned to paint landscapes. His works are in museums and private collections throughout the United States.
