This model is a full-scale replica of the original model designed by legendary car designer Ray Dietrich. The Firebird, released in 1963, was Gibson's first neck-through-body model. It was used by players of various genres, including blues legend Johnny Winter, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, Brian Jones, Eric Clapton, and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music. The Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird I inherits the specifications of the vintage Firebird while being released at an affordable price. It has a 9-ply neck-through-body construction made of mahogany and walnut, with mahogany body on both wings. The tuners are Kluson planetary banjo tuners, and the strings are held in place by a wraparound lightning bar bridge, providing excellent sustain. While it follows the refined simplicity of the vintage 1963 Firebird I, it also uses professional parts for the electronics section. Equipped with Gibson USA Firebird Mini Humbucker pickups with Alnico 5 magnets, CTS potentiometer, Mallory capacitor, Switchcraft 3-way pickup selector switch, and Switchcraft 1/4" output jack. Not only does it have the classic Firebird I look, it also sounds great.
