Description: Enoch Wood City of Canterbury Pattern Blue Transferware Covered Vegetable C.1820s Antique British pearlware covered vegetable. Decorated in the City of Canterbury pattern in dark blue transfer. Has an impressed E Wood & Sons Burslem Warranted Semi China mark on the base. Also marked in blue City of Canterbury. Produced by Enoch Wood. Circa 1818 to 1846. Has crazing typical of earthenware, some staining, glaze wear along the edge, and there is a filled in chip to the under side of the edge of the vegetable bowl. There is also a spot on the side of the bowl where it stuck to something else in the kiln. Otherwise good condition. Measures approximately 9 5/8 inches wide x 6 3/8 inches tall to the top of the lid finial. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
