I’m Gary Reichel and I put this compilation together back in 1985. Tremor Records was a cooperative where these bands came together and helped each other release records. Detroit had a pretty good Punk, New Wave scene back in the 1980’s. This album covers part of what was going on then. Liner notes written by Kevin Knapp. Front cover from Paul Zimmerman. This is a new and sealed album that was issued almost 40 years ago! This is the original pressing. Cinecyde has continuously played and their latest release, Vegetable Or Thing is available on eBay. Many of their older releases are available as well. As vocalist of The Boners, Jerry Vile made some very outrageous music. Fun, shocking, rocking’ good music. This was a fun, but tamer piece, Cowboys In Space. Bassist, Steve King recorded with famed producer, Don Was. Steve King went on to become a huge producer, writer, musician and is all over the second Eminem album. Sadly, Steve left us several years ago. The 3-D Invisibles have continuously played making fun horror-rock. They should have been huge. They also play as a surf-rock band, The Volcanoes. Hysteric Narcotics had a great 1960’s Garage sound. Dave Feeney went on to play with Jack White. Vertical Pillows put out several recordings and worked with famed MC-5 vocalist Rob Tyner. Bootsey X started with the legendary Ramrods, played with Ron Asheton in Dark Carnival and fronted his own band, The Lovemasters. Rock, Soul and Punk smashed together, he sadly left us all too soon. Sleep had Cinecyde’s bassist, Chris Girard creating an Alternative and Indie sound with his intriguing band. The Frames had a great Garage sound and morphed into The Volebeats. When Monkeys Were Gods was the third in a series of six compilation albums documenting the Detroit scene. NEW! SEALED!
