She was an accomplished dressmaker, community activist, patron of the arts and philanthropist. At 53 years old she focused on her old love of painting, and attended the National Academy School for two years, then trained with artists in New York and abroad. She was a member of the American Artists’ Professional League, the National Association of Women Artists Inc., the Pastel Society of America, the New York Artists’ Equity Association and the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and painted well into her 80’s.
