Description: Elaborate Yoruba beaded female equestrian figure with a number of embellishments. The figure has a bundle on her head, a shell at her neck, coconut heishi beads (not vulcanite) wrapped around her waist, and cowry shells at one wrist. Her torso is wrapped with primarily black beads, some of which have white areas in the glass. She sits on a old fabric blanket that has dangling bead strands, each ending with cowry shells and what appears to be twisted copper rings. The horse's torso is also wrappped the same black/white beads as the female's torso. Underneath the horse is a large shell and everything is attached to a fabric covered base. The proportions on this figure are particularly interesting with the extremely elongated legs and breasts as well as the extremely long right arm which holds the horse with a braided fabric rope. The horse has a fur tail and cowry shells at his hooves. There are some loose threads and missing beads at the back of her head. Approximately 24" tall and 10 1/2" at widest point in profile. Sorry, no international buyers, shipping only to USA.
