Description: This copper plate engraved by El Shami depicts the Grand entrance to the mosque of the Sultan Hassan. This mosque is located in Cairo and this particular image originally appeared in volume 3 of the folio of lithographs The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt & Nubia, after lithographs by Louis Haghe from drawings made on the spot by David Roberts, R. A., with historical descriptions by The Revd George Croly, L.L.D. The work was printed by F. G. Moon in London during 1842–49. The copper panel is 10.75"x 16.75" and the frame is 16"x22".
