Description: [Egypt] Antonio Beato (c.1835 - 1906) A Group of Twelve Original Large Albumen Photographs Showing Architecture and Portraits c.1880-89. A fine group of twelve original unmounted large size albumen prints by Antonio Beato, all similarly numbered and titled (in French) to the reverse of each, additionally six are signed by Beato in the negative at the foot (one reversed). A good selection of views taken in Luxor and Karnak, both of ancient architectural treasures and also of the local people. All of the photographs were purchased rolled (and unmounted), so the images have been well preserved with few signs of discolouration. All of the images have been titled in French by Beato to the reverse in pencil. All approx. 260x203mm., a couple with small peripherals tears (up to 15mm.) occasional light peripheral creasing, though overall in a good state of preservation. A lovely group.
