SUPERB Edwardian Lawn / Tea Dress in great condition for its age. So this one ,as many Lawn dresses that I source in good condition, was practically unwearable because of its 20” waist. Usually shoulders are ok. So I decided to do something about it and i will be doing some small changes to be able to give this beauties a second life. They deserve it, and you too! So I made it fit my mannequin that is a size Medium by. - Removing all buttons in the bodice and cover that edge with a vintage lace trim. - Leaving the back open. And the dress looks also beautiful the other way round! Last picture. Maybe use it with a vest under. So its two dresses in one! Pictured both ways. Measurements: garment lying flat. Bodice: Open.Aprox. Armpit measurement: 18” - Shoulder aprox: 15 1/2” - Waist 13” (open). Hips: 25 1/2”. End Width: 65” Total Lenght from Shoulder: 54 1/2” Sleeve: 11” For your reference the mannequin is a women size Medium and it’s measurements are: Bust: 88 cm / 34.64” Waist: 66 cm / 25.98” Hips: 90 cm / 35.43” I think would fit S/M but PLEASE CHECK MEASUREMENTS BEFORE PURCHASE! Antique hand made items where handmade and differ to standard sizes. Please check the measurements closely for determining fit. I do not give sizes for vintage items as women’s sizes are not standardized and a majority of these dresses were homemade or specialty made to fit one person. Also if vintage items are size tagged they usually run smalller comparing to the actual sizes. A good method to check is to measure a similar item that fits and compare. I found only two pinholes with I covered with 2 antique floral appliqués (last picture). PLEASE check measurements before purchase. A good method is to measure a similar item that fits and compare. I sell Vintage and Antique Clothing and I would say anything before 30s should be treated with care and worn with care. Mostly these items will be fragile especially 20s silk or Edwardian very fine Muslin. Some can not handle stress and will tear easily. Should be bought a size bigger where possible or should be a little loose on. This is Vintage or antique, items will not look brand new modern clothing from the shops. Things to consider when buying Edwardian or Victorian clothing: - If an item is marked XS but looks loose and big! it really is XS on the upper body shoulder opening of the arm. It may look big and loose but the shoulders or opening of the arm will be small, or the waist. - The sleeves may not be long to the wrist but more of a 3/4. - Buttons also may vary in shape and size on the same blouse, these blouses are old and would have lost buttons along the way.
