Zero Corner Edge Finder is a major enhancement to your CNC machine and work strategy. It allows you to precisely locate and relocate the X=0 & Y=0 corner of your work piece. It is also useful for reliably finding the top surface Z=0. The Edge Finder uses a circular hole to find the X & Y edges by finding the center of a hole that is directly over the corner. The process is easy, fast, and accurate. By finding the center of the hole, you don't need to know the diameter of the probe or the size of the hole. Those two dimensions cancel out in the equations. There is nothing worse than loosing your reference to the work piece by having your tool break or your stepper motors skip a beat, and having to start over with new material. Often times, when this happens, the work is not ruined, and if you could find again the original X=0, Y=0, & Z=0 you could save the work piece, a lot of time, and money. The Edge Finder allows you to relocate X=0, Y=0, & Z=0 to within 0.001 inch or 0.025mm. That is usually a win situation. If you try to set X=0, Y=0 and Z=0 by sight or touch to paper, you will not be able to repeat better than 1mm or 0.040 inch, which will usually ruin your work. It is incredibly hard to find the edges of a work piece that is non conductive like wood and plastic. The Edge Finder greatly simplifies that process while providing excellent precision and repeat ability. The Edge Finder assembly Includes the Edge Finder, a magnetic probe clip, and a 6 foot cable terminated with a 5.5mm x 2.1mm plug. It connects effortlessly to many 3020T, 3040T, and the 6040T controllers via the probe input jack located on the back. Also Included is a female 5.5x2.1mm chassis mount jack, for those systems that do not have a jack built in. This jack mounts in a 12mm (1/2") hole. The jack assembly has a 200mm (8") cord and a 2-pin 5mm header for direct connection to many driver boards. Specifications:- The Edge Finder is about 3" x 2" (75mm x 50mm). - The small hole is 3/8" diameter centered over the corner (X=0, Y=0) and is perfect for an 1/8 in. bit or probe. - The large hole is 3/4" (19mm) in diameter located X0.5 & Y0.5 inches (X12.7 & Y12.7 mm) from X=0 & Y=0 and is suitable for a 1/2" bit. (It is also perfect holding the Edge Finder in place while the program is hunting for the center.) - The plug is a standard 5.5 X 2.1 mm plug.- Cable is about 6ft (1.8m) long with a Powerful Magnetic probe clip.- Female jack is 5.5mm x 2.1mm and mounts in a 12mm hole, has a 200mm (8") cord and a 2-pin 5mm header. A free downloadable MACH 3 compatible script file is available that performs the find X=0, Y=0, Z=0 process with the click of the mouse and a touch of the keyboard. A sample GRBL compatible G-Code center finder file is available to help you get started. Note: some GRBL control programs have limited Probing capability. Some can be enhanced with the use of Macros. G-Code Sender has macro features and is compatible with this product. To confirm compatibility with your CNC router, look for a Probe Port on the back of your controller box. The Probe port is somewhere on the back panel and consists of a 5.5mm x 2.1 mm female jack (see pictures).
