Description: An original, antique, copper-plate engraved county map of the East Riding Yorkshire, printed on hand laid paper. The map is hand coloured and has a decorative title cartouche, a distance scale and several coats of arms. Cartographer / Engraver: Johannes Blaeu Provenance: 'Nouvel Atlas', published in Amsterdam, c.1645 Condition: Very good condition. Light age toning. Centrefold as published. Some light creasing. Printer's crease in the bottom left corner of the sheet. Minor nick to the top edge of the sheet, well away from the printed area. Approx. 0.5cm closed tear to the right edge of the sheet, not affecting the printed area. Tiny pinprick size hole to the printed area, only really visible when the sheet is held up to the light.
